Securing an interview with world-class hotels like the Fairmont Olympic Hotel or The Westin Charlotte is a massive milestone and a life-changing opportunity!
To help you build rock-solid confidence and land your dream job, KPB has put together the ultimate 5-Step Interview Checklist before you meet your U.S. employer.
1. Research Your Employer Inside Out
Before the interview, you need to understand the unique brand identity and vibe of the hotel you applied for. For example:
Andaz Miami Beach Resort & Spa focuses on a modern, trendy atmosphere with a beachside flair.
The Greenbrier is renowned for its classic luxury and rich historical heritage.
Showing employers that you’ve done your homework will instantly make a great first impression within the first minute!
2. Master Your Job Details and Compensation
Employers often double-check to ensure you fully understand the program terms. Be ready to speak confidently about:
- Job Position: Most openings are in the Culinary track (kitchen roles).
- Compensation: Memorize your specific hourly wage. For instance, Fairmont Olympic offers up to $25.48/hour, while Hotel Crescent Court pays $18/hour.
- Program Duration: Be ready to state how many months you are available for training—typically 6 or 12 months.
3. Verify Your Start Date
Different hotels have different start timelines. You must be absolutely sure when you are ready to fly out:
- Ready to fly ASAP: Such as positions at The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage or The Westin Charlotte.
- Planning ahead: Such as Courtyard Owatonna or Hyatt Regency St. Louis (starting July 2026), and The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain (starting September 2026).
4. Polish Your “Kitchen English” and Communication Skills
For culinary positions, employers look at your English communication skills just as much as your cooking talent. Practice sharing your past experiences and explaining why you want to train at their specific property. Take Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado, for instance—it’s a nature-inspired resort that prides itself on professional, top-tier service.
5. Mind Your Presentation and Tech Setup
Since most interviews are conducted online, don’t overlook these technical and visual details:
- Dress Professionally: Look the part, as if you are already standing in a 5-star hotel.
- Tech Check: Test your internet stability and microphone quality beforehand.
- Environment: Choose a quiet room with good lighting.
Boost your confidence before the big day! At KPB, our dedicated team is here to guide and prepare you through every single step, putting that 5-star career opportunity right within your reach.
Opportunities are limited! Employer sponsors are currently accepting new applicants.
